Last reviewed September 2026

Draft for review before launch, ideally by someone qualified in Australian financial services and consumer law. Highlighted text needs a decision.

The short version: Runway is a tool for seeing your own savings in years of your own spending. It’s run by one person, it can’t touch your money, and it doesn’t tell you what to do with it. The rest of this page spells that out properly.

What Runway is

Runway helps you learn about financial independence, work out a target figure from your own spending, record your balances over time, compare how fees, distributions, franking and tax apply to funds you choose, and keep your own notes. It has no connection to any bank, broker or super fund, can’t move money, and can’t see any figure you haven’t typed in yourself.

Not financial advice

Nothing in Runway is financial, investment, tax or superannuation advice, and nothing in it takes your objectives, financial situation or needs into account. It shows your own figures under assumptions you choose, and general information with its sources.

Fund comparisons are calculations, not recommendations. Runway doesn’t rank funds, say which is better, or suggest buying, holding or selling anything. It isn’t a substitute for a licensed financial adviser or a registered tax agent, and decisions you make based on what you see are yours alone.

Figures, assumptions and estimates

  • Withdrawal-rate research, including the 4% rule, is based largely on US market history and doesn’t guarantee future results.
  • Fund fees, yields and franking levels come from published sources on the dates shown. They change, sources sometimes disagree, and they may be out of date or wrong. You can edit them, and you should check them with the fund issuer.
  • Tax figures are estimates using the rates and rules stated in the app. They leave things out, such as your full tax position and parts of fund distributions, and aren’t a tax calculation you can rely on.
  • Scenario lines and projections show what would happen if your assumptions held. They are not forecasts.

Fund names

Fund names and ticker codes belong to their issuers. Runway isn’t affiliated with, endorsed by or paid by any of them.

Your account

You need an account to use Runway, since its value is the history it builds over time. You’re responsible for keeping access to your sign-in email secure. Runway is for your own personal use, not for reselling or for providing services to other people.

Your content is yours

Every figure, note and step you enter belongs to you. You can download all of it at any time. Using Runway doesn’t give us any rights to your content beyond what’s needed to store it and show it back to you.

Availability

Runway is run by one person and provided free for as long as it’s affordable to keep running. It isn’t guaranteed to be available every minute of every day, and features may change as it evolves. If continued free access ever has to change, you’ll get a heads-up first.

If something goes wrong

Runway is provided as is. To the extent the law allows, we’re not liable for losses arising from your use of it, including decisions made based on what it shows you, or time lost to an outage or a bug. Nothing in these terms excludes rights you have under the Australian Consumer Law that can’t be excluded. This isn’t meant to wave away real problems: if something’s broken, tell us and we’ll look at it.

Ending things

You can stop using Runway at any time. We may suspend or close an account that’s used to abuse the service or break these terms. Either way, the commitments on the Privacy page still apply to whatever’s been entered.

Changes to these terms

These terms may be updated as Runway evolves. Material changes will be flagged in the app, not slipped in silently. Continuing to use Runway after a change means you accept the updated terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of [state or territory], Australia.
